German sludge/doom band EREMIT’s album streaming in full

EREMIT’s Desert Of Ghouls EP is now streaming online in its entirety, and can be checked out HERE. We especially recommend this EP for metal fans who like their doom to be laced with terrific riffage, and an eternal atmosphere of its own. German sludge/doom metal band EREMIT released a groundbreaking debut in Carrier Of Weight, which was widely regarded as some of the heaviest sludge/doom music recorded and despite the length of the songs, riveted listeners from all over. Retaining the same mind-numbingly heavy sound, EREMIT trudge forward with brand new material that’s even tighter and catchier than before. […]

Album Review: Ulthar – Providence

ULTHAR proves their 2018 debut Cosmovore was no fluke or one-and-done episode. They return to the fray with Providence (the hometown of H. P. Lovecraft…coincidence?) and they are back to mangle minds and reap souls with a whirlwind of fierce and technical death metal. There’s very little primitive gloom here. This is the fast and nasty side of the beast, touching on such primal sources as MORBID ANGEL, PESTILENCE, IMMOLATION and lesser known entities like ANATA and MERCYLESS. There’s also a touch of blackness to the affair, especially in the ripped throat vocals. Highlights are many, but I would bring […]

DARKENED set release date for EDGED CIRCLE debut album, reveal first track

Edged Circle Productions announces September 11th as the international release date for the highly anticipated debut album of pan-international quintet DARKENED, Kingdom Of Decay. It was but the summer of 2019 when DARKENED burst onto the international stage with their debut EP for Edged Circle, Into The Blackness. Although an otherwise-brand-new entity at the time, DARKENED boasted a wealth of experience in the death metal underground, comprising drummer Andy Whale (ex-Bolt Thrower / Memoriam), bassist Daryl Kahan (ex-Disma / Funebrarum), vocalist Gord Olson (Ye Goat-Herd Gods / Demisery), and guitarists Linus Nirbrant (A Canorous Quintet / This Ending) and Hempa […]

Album Review: High Spirits – Hard To Stop

HIGH SPIRITS have been ahead of the game when it comes to the revival of classic metal and ’70s hard rock. They’ve been following that path since before it became a trend. Once lonesome, they now have plenty of company. The band continues to stick to their usual style here for the most part, but they were smart enough to throw in a few curveballs this time around, which is a good thing. The HIGH SPIRITS style is sometimes uncomfortably staid. ‘Hearts Will Burn’ surprises by being the heaviest song the band has done yet…a real riff-cruncher that doesn’t pretend […]

Album Review: Foetal Juice – Gluttony

Not many bands take over a decade to release their debut album. That’s not to say Manchester’s FOETAL JUICE has been sitting on its collective arse since 2005, either, though, having filled the time with a demo, two EPs, three split releases, and as many singles. And now, a “scant” four years after Masters Of Absurdity comes Gluttony. At first notice, it seems the quartet has left behind much of the parody/juvenile humor element, or at least the twisting of film/song title/band names for its output, which could be chalked up to either input of the band’s new vocalist and […]
