First of all, I was promised angel breasts and skulls. I received neither of these. What a let down. That being said, though I did not receive either, what I did get were some fine riffs. So, what happens when we delve into these secret cry…sorry, secrypts? Well, it could be said you would be treated to some fine finger work, the kind that would have your usual alley stalker in fishnets panting like a dog.
Could I imagine myself sitting down with Howard Lovecraft and his delightful cat, banging this out over some sweet Merlot? Absolutely. Might even get a story from it. ‘Ghoulish Delight’ would be a fantastic jumping off point. We are treated to less of a linear descent into grimy corridors of, something indescribable, more of riding a bobsled made of human skulls down a corridor of viscera, but with this as your elevator music. Next stop ‘Spineless Throne’, a track with good MARDUK vibes.
It continues much in this vein, fine finger work and vocals that would be a lullaby to any kvlt baby, until right at the end – now here it picks up. ‘The Coin Of This Realm’ is where this album picks itself out of the bloody and shitty mire and reveals its ace up its sleeve, otherwise this album would have gotten a 1. Now if they continue much in the vein of this track, yes, please.
While I did like what I heard, Secrypts Of The Egochasm did not stand out as much to me. Maybe it does you, in which case, enjoy this offering. Myself however ill be moving onto blacker abysses.
