Italy’s IGNOBLETH arrived with 2024’s Voidspawn Sacrifice EP, which was solid, but was also the sound of a band searching for itself. Heavy? Sure! Dark? As midnight. But memorable? Not so much, at least for these ears. And now the time has come to enter the Manor Of Primitive Anticreation. What lurketh beyond its gates, within its chambers?

‘Cults Of The Undead And Profane Necrolatry’ easily moves beyond a paltry “intro” track, an assurance that something is beginning that’s more than filler to the band. ‘Obelisk Of Deformity’ is gargantuan in riff and rhythm, cosmically malformed and unrelenting, collapsing us into ‘Warped Abyssal Architectures’, which lives up to its name. This is clearly not the same mindset that brought us the EP of less than two years prior, and work has been done to carve away, add to, and twist what was already lurking in the mind into corporeal form. The low-tuned filth of Ross Bay swirls and merges with esoteric blackness not unlike ENSHROUDED and MELECHESH, all the while retaining a blatant deathlike vocal bile-puke.

‘Forked Tongues’ is more straightforward than what’s come before, but gives no relief, complete aural devastation the goal, while ‘And The Lunar Mass Shatters’ is convoluted, an exploration/exploitation of your aural cavities on the level of early GORGUTS and – more recently – DEIQUISITOR while sounding “like” neither. Split into two segments, ‘Proselyte Pig’ drags us into ANGELCORPSE as interpreted by labelmates ACT OF IMPALEMENT.

Climactically drawing to a close with the majestically forward-thinking (and yet fully realized) ‘Among The Seventy-Two Embalmed Ekpyrotic Gods’, I have to say I wouldn’t have believed IGNOBLETH had an album the level of Manor Of Primitive Anticreation up its collective sleeve. But it did, and we will all reap both the benefits and the sonic whirlwind of its might.
