SATANIZE set release date for new HELTER SKELTER album, reveal first track

Today, Helter Skelter Productions (distributed & marketed by Regain Records) sets January 20th, 2021 as the international release date for SATANIZE’s highly anticipated sixth album, Baphomet Altar Worship, on CD and vinyl LP formats. Since 2001, Portugal’s SATANIZE have been prolifically pursuing their own vision of all-caps BLACK METAL. Of that prolific canon, they’ve released five full-lengths and more than twice as many EPs and splits. During that time, the longstanding duo of Reverend Of Diabolical Services And Sinister Sorcery (barbaric skullhammers & poisonous hate commands) and Reverend Of The Hell Legions And Macabre Tyranny (bestial strings of holocaust & […]

BRÒN signs with Nordvis and announces new album

We’re happy to announce our latest artist collaboration and welcome BRÒN into the Nordvis family. BRÒN is a project formed in Scotland in 2014 as a sonic chronicle of the wanderings of New Zealander KG (Barshasketh). BRÒN’s first three releases featured vast atmospheric black metal, punctuated by extended ambient sections. Lyrically and musically, these works were inspired by the untrodden wilds of Scotland, New Zealand and Serbia. Following this, KG relocated to Belgrade, Serbia and released a handful of ambient, down-tempo albums exploring life within a sprawling urban expanse. Now with the addition of drummer GH (A Forest Of Stars), […]

Album Review: Messiah – Fracmont

The return of Switzerland’s MESSIAH is welcome indeed. Coming from the same fertile scene that birthed CELTIC FROST and CORONER, they were an ’80s band that almost reached those same heights. They had their own unique sound that had some relation to both those seminal acts without falling into worship or mimicry. But that was then…this is now. Is Fracmont a comeback that lives up to its promise? You will certainly find similarities to MESSIAH’s classic sound here, but they’ve added some new tricks as well. I call the style on Fracmont “elegant primitivism”. The riffs are thick, heavy and […]

MOONSPELL Announces Very Special Halloween Show – Virtual Stream Tickets Available

In the darkest of years, MOONSPELL have announced that they will perform a special live Halloween show, taking place in the South of Portugal in an ancient town named Beja, on October 31, 2020! At the local theatre Pax Julia, originally built in 1928, the band will deliver their annual and own brand of Halloween to the world: An exclusive, socially distanced live concert for 300 guests that can also be witnessed virtually by the Wolfpack worldwide, who have been scattered and lying in wait for this to happen since lockdown began. Under a full moon, the show will begin […]

Album Review: In Flames – Clayman (20th Anniversary Edition)

By the time IN FLAMES delivered Clayman at the dawn of the new millennium, the band had already morphed from one of the founding fathers of the Gothenburg melodic death metal sound into…well, I had already begun to wander, let’s say. Granted, I love me some DEPECHE MODE, but ‘Everything Counts’ from Whoracle of three years hence signaled more than good taste in covers from Jesper Stromblad & co. ‘Bullet Ride’ sounded positively jovial in ’00, and is no less so here, strange and ill-suited as an opening track. Faring no better were ‘Pinball Map’, and we can begin to […]

RUFF MAJIK: Ghost Cult Unveils Zombie Apocalypse Themed Video From South African Stoner Rock Unit; The Devil’s Cattle Full-Length To See Release October 30th Via Mongrel Records

‘Lead Pills And Thrills’ is the third single to be released from The Devil’s Cattle, the upcoming full-length from South African stoner rock collective RUFF MAJIK. It’s the first one to feature long-time producer and new member Evert Snyman plus founding member Johni Holiday front and centre on vocal duties. It’s also the first time the band experimented with piano driven rock ‘n’ roll. Lyrically, the latest single song deals with crippling addiction to both lost love and alcohol. The video is the conceptual follow up to the animated feature for previous single ‘Who Keeps Score’. Comments guitarist/vocalist Johni Holiday, […]

Album Review: Bangladeafy – Housefly

The last time I encountered BANGLADEAFY, they were a mind-melting avant-garde bass-and-drum assault that probed the limits of fusion playing. Strike that memory of BANGLADEAFY. Delete it and wipe it from your memory core. This version of BANGLADEAFY is a completely different beast. And it’s a totally refreshing one. For those who don’t know, the band is a duo. Powerhouse drummer Atif Haq originally hails from Bangladesh and bassist/vocalist Jon Ehlers has hearing impairment…hence the name. Housefly finds them reinventing themselves as a synth-driven rhythm bulldozer and erasing their former electric bass gymnastics. In fact, the bass does not exist […]

THOU AND EMMA RUTH RUNDLE RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘THE VALLEY’ -COLLABORATIVE ALBUM MAY OUR CHAMBERS BE FULL OUT OCTOBER 30 VIA SACRED BONES

EMMA RUTH RUNDLE and THOU have released their emotional and heavy new ballad, ‘The Valley’. The single reveals the collaborative project’s deeper, darker and vulnerable side. “Fragile yet powerful; sad but fearless. It’s the feeling you get when you listen to a lot of Emma’s music,” THOU guitarist Andy Gibbs describes. EMMA RUTH RUNDLE tells, “The Valley is a place. A landscape that lacks vistas and perspectives. An analogy for unrelenting, crushing mental illness, physical pain, addiction and the isolation that can arise as a result of these diseases. There is a choice one must make once initiated into The […]
