Heavy Blog Is Heavy is currently streaming NEPENTHE’s rendition of ‘Time Time Time’ from Danish neofolk project Of The Wand & The Moon. The cover appears on NEPENTHE’s forthcoming compilation release which features their new EP, The Fading Promise Of Tomorrow, and their 2020 debut, Elegies Of Loss And Doom.

Forged in 2018, the NEPENTHE collective emerged from a shared desire to compose music that leaves a lasting impression on the world. Although rooted in doom and atmospheric black metal, NEPENTHE expands these genres’ boundaries by incorporating elements of post-metal, goth rock, and neo folk. The result is an emotional soundscape that traverses both beauty and dejection, exploring the complexity of the human condition through haunting melodies and evocative arrangements.

The band’s lyrics draw philosophical inspiration from figures such as Friedrich Nietzsche and Charles Baudelaire. By interlacing vivid imagery and rich symbolism with dark acoustic passages and ethereal atmospherics, NEPENTHE evokes a profound sense of existential reflection.

In November of 2020, NEPENTHE released their debut EP, Elegies Of Loss And Doom, earning recognition from the underground doom and black metal communities. Their upcoming EP, The Fading Promise Of Tomorrow, marks their first new musical output in four years. Across both releases, vocalist Konrad Schröder’s impassioned delivery guides listeners through themes of loss and dread, prompting them to confront life’s darkest truths.

Elaborates Schröder on the band’s reimagining of ‘Time Time Time’, “We chose to cover Of The Wand & The Moon as a way to pay respect to our folk influences, but we arranged it to show a personal twist. We feel that the result is a perfect fit, not only musically speaking, but also due to Kim Larsen’s lyrics, which evoke a melancholic reflection on the passage of time.”

Adds Heavy Blog Is Heavy, “Reimagined as an epic doom song teetering on the edge of funeral, NEPENTHE’s version of ‘Time Time Time’ is simultaneously gloomy and romantic, haunted and triumphant… Equal parts of Cruachan, Ragana, and Harakiri For The Sky, NEPENTHE might have created one of my favorite doom albums of 2024.”
