American Metal Legends ATTACKER Join Cruz Del Sur Music, Vocalist BOBBY LUCAS Returns To The Fold

Cruz Del Sur Music is proud to announce the signing of American metal legends ATTACKER! The label will release the band’s next studio album sometime in 2022. Originally formed in 1983, ATTACKER burst onto the scene with their 1985 debut, Battle At Helm’s Deep, an LP many consider to be one of the first pure American power metal albums. The band released The Second Coming in 1988 before splitting the next year. ATTACKER returned in 2001 and has since released four additional studio albums and one EP, the latest being 2018’s Armor Of The Gods EP. ATTACKER made contact with […]

Album Review: Fuoco Fatuo – Obsidian Katabasis

Italy – possibly not surprisingly, considering the iron grasp of the church of Rome, and the sense of the liturgical ensuing – has been a stronghold of doom for many years, the organ-driven NOCTU, the more traditional ABYSMAL GRIEF, and SEPULCHRAL VOID coming to top of mind. Enter Lombardy’s FUOCO FATUO with Obsidian Katabasis, its third full-length celebrating its first decade of existence. Comprising three more extended pieces, each over 13 minutes in length, and divided by shorter, yet no less important, instrumental movements, it’s easy to see the album as a concept. It may well be that, but not […]

Alastor share ‘Dead Things In Jars’ single from forthcoming sophomore album

Swedish rock band Alastor share the first single from their forthcoming album Onwards And Downwards today via Heavy Blog Is Heavy. Hear and share ‘Dead Things In Jars’ HERE Metal Injection recently hosted the first single, the driving rocker ‘Death Cult’ HERE Excelsior! It’s the hail of yore that one should go ever onward and upward. And so, fittingly Onwards And Downwards is the occultist Swedish band ALASTOR’s clever call to arms… and also a reflection of our collective dark state of mind these days. “If our last album Slave To The Grave were about death, this record is more […]

Album Review: Bewitcher – Cursed Be Thy Kingdom

This record took a while to really hit its stride, but it finally got there. BEWITCHER is a SoCal act kind of following in the footsteps of several “evil rocking metal” bands, and they didn’t strike me as anything too special in the first half of the album. After a bluesy intro of ‘Ashe’, they lead off with ‘Death Returns’, which sounds like a not so thrashy MIDNIGHT. Dirty rock meets heavy metal…it’s always a good formula, but pretty well worn. ‘Satanic Magick Attack’ sounds a lot like ‘2 Minutes To Midnight’ with different vocals and some minor tweaks… I’m […]

WRECHE Stream New Single, ‘Mysterium’

The new album, All My Dreams Came True from the California-based project, is set to release on 14th May 2021 on Vinyl, CD and digital formats. Stream via Captured Howls Stream in Hungary via Kronos Mortus WRECHE, a high stakes challenger of the metal genre returns with a violent haymaker on All my dreams came true. A colossal masterpiece, this album sees John Steven Morgan working alone – more unhinged, personal, and varied than on WRECHE’s 2017 eponymous debut w/ drummer Barret Baumgart. At once horrifying and beautiful, All my dreams came true further binds genres like a particle accelerator […]

Interview: SOMNURI

Brooklyn progressive sludge trio SOMNURI know a lot about overcoming obstacles, as witnessed on their sophomore full-length. Recorded pre-pandemic, placed in somewhat of a forced hibernation for 2020, this Summer will find the threesome decimating eardrums upon the June release of Nefarious Wave. RIDING THE WAVEInterview with Justin Sherrell [Vocals, Guitars] and Phil SanGiacomo [Drums] of SOMNURIInterview By: Lord Randall Rebel Extravaganza: Your bio mentions “The strength of will to survive in New York” being a reason for the heaviness found in what SOMNURI does. These days, that’s anywhere, right? Being from Detroit, there’s obviously a lot of pride in […]

Z2 Comics partners with heavy metal legend King Diamond for the graphic novel adaptation of ‘Abigail’

Z2 Comics, the leading publisher of music-inspired graphic novels, reveals this fall’s jewel in the crown of the “king” of heavy metal himself: the first-ever comic written by the one and only KING DIAMOND. White Noise Studios scribe Dan Watters and October Faction artist Damien Worm team with The King himself for a chilling new version of the story of Miriam Natias and Jonathan LaFey and an inheritance far more terrifying than even the haunted mansion in which it’s discovered. To celebrate this unprecedented pairing, Z2 Comics will offer an exclusive brand new Abigail graphic novel picture disc edition of […]

Album Review: Steel Bearing Hand – Slay In Hell

The last 25 years of metal never happened as far as Texas’ STEEL BEARING HAND is concerned, and that’s alright by me. These Lone Star Lunatics have constructed a love letter to the death and thrash metal of the late ’80s and early ’90s on Slay In Hell, steadfastly ignoring any “progression” since those days. By focusing on what they know and love, they’ve pretty much whipped the ass of any banger who lays ears on this. The album is just six tracks and pretty brief, but packs a lot into its length. The best thing about Slay In Hell […]

Cruz Del Sur Music Re-Releasing ORODRUIN’s ‘Epicurean Mass’ on Vinyl / Fundraiser for Solstice Guitarist Rich Walker

Rochester (NY) – Cruz Del Sur Music have announced the vinyl re-release of ORODRUIN’s classic doom album Epicurean Mass on May 28. The re-release is part of a multi-faceted fundraiser for stricken Solstice guitarist Rich Walker. ORODRUIN’s 2003 Epicurean Mass debut was a harbinger of things to come. So formidable that it took the band 16 years to release its Ruins of Eternity follow-up, Epicurean Mass paved the way for a resurgence in mournful, riff-laden Black Sabbath and Saint Vitus-styled doom. Doom was taken back to its earnest, dark roots, casting aside the occasional pomp and image-first angle that was […]

MEPHITIC GRAVE: Hungarian Death Bringers To Release Into The Atrium Of Inhuman Morbidity Debut May 7th Via Carbonized Records; New Track Streaming + Preorders Available

Stream / Share MEPHITIC GRAVE’s ‘Chthonicon’ HERE Hungarian death bringers MEPHITIC GRAVE will unleash their Into The Atrium Of Inhuman Morbidity debut via Carbonized Records this May. Made of jagged riffs and grisly vocal incantations, MEPHITIC GRAVE’s sonic venom — influenced by Abhorrence, Funebre, and Autopsy among others — runs deep discharging eight maniacally putrid odes of lo-fi grimness. Tipping their scythes to the works of H.P. Lovecraft, the band’s visual and lyrical concepts revolve around the philosophy of cosmicism which denies the presence of a god or any such ideas of divinity and upholds that humans are insignificant in […]
