CIANIDE set release date for new HELLS HEADBANGERS mini-album

Hells Headbangers announces December 27th as the international release date for CIANIDE’s highly anticipated new mini-album, Unhumanized, on CD, 12″ vinyl, and cassette tape formats. One of the cultest names in American death metal, CIANIDE have stuck to their guns for over 30 years now, patiently building a canon that’s unrivaled in its consistency and trend-free philosophy. Theirs is a Metal of Death that’s simple, straightforward, and effectively primitive: blunt-force trauma informed by Hellhammer and Chicago forebears DeathStrike, but with a sewer-dredging atmosphere all its own. CIANIDE’s rich discography reads like a study in unselfconsciousness: one could say the power-trio […]

Interview: WINTERFYLLETH

After five atmosphere-charged black metal albums – and one acoustic release -, Manchester’s WINTERFYLLETH took to the stage at Bloodstock to celebrate not only the first festival to give the band a headlining show, but the first decade of its existence. The Siege Of Mercia is volatile, enthralling, and triumphant, a true sonic (and visual) representation of a band at its peak. Lord Randall recently sat down to talk to bassist Nick Wallwork about the live set, the band’s most recent studio album, The Hallowing Of Heirdom, and where the quintet are headed from here… THE FATHERS OF ALBIONInterview with […]

NEBULAR CARCOMA to release NEGATIVA’s mini-album on vinyl

Nebular Carcoma sets December 6th as the international release date for NEGATIVA’s cult 01 mini-album on 12″ vinyl format, featuring fully remastered sound and presented on a single-sided LP. NEGATIVA are a prolific and mysterious force hailing from Spain. The entity’s two central figures, multi-instrumentalist DB and vocalist D.R., respectively maintain the well-regarded Délirant (of the Mystískaos cabal) and Atrabilis. Together, as NEGATIVA, do the duo create delirious, tortured, but credibly avant-garde black metal, worming deep within atonality and tension to find bittersweet resolution and maimed ‘n’ malformed melody. Of the band’s prolific clutch of releases, arguably, NEGATIVA’s 01 is […]

Montreal’s Blackened Thrash DIZASTRA To Unleash Debut Album, Elder Sun, On Nov 22

From the bowels of Satan’s lair, DIZASTRA has come. After a long wait, their first full-length album, Elder Sun, is ready to massacre fans on November 22, 2019. Following their 2015 EP Hell’s Gate, Montreal based DIZASTRA summons unholy ferocity in their music merging the sounds of black, thrash and melodic heavy metal to coagulate a distinct sound. During this past summer, these evildoers unleashed the music video for the first single off the album ‘Vae Victus’. An anthem to riding a dragon through Hades, this track combines all the elements of what makes heavy metal what it is. Bringing […]

ALBUM REVIEW: DEATH WOLF – IV: Come The Dark

After leaving behind its obvious MISFITS/SAMHAIN tribute work as DEVILS WHOREHOUSE and rechristening itself DEATH WOLF in 2011, the band got down to the business of – while maybe not entirely turning its back on its initial sound – creating its own persona, which has worked to varying degrees of success over the last three albums. Now, roughly five years after III: Ostergotland, DEATH WOLF leaves behind Century Media, returning Blooddawn Productions to its original home under the Regain Records banner. ‘He Who Hates’ kicks things off, and I do mean kicks, hard-charging and menacing, easily the best opener on […]

HAUNT set release date for new SHADOW KINGDOM album

Today, Shadow Kingdom Records sets January 10th, 2020 as the international release date for the massively anticipated third album of America’s HAUNT, Mind Freeze, on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats. Simply put, HAUNT is the new face of traditional heavy metal & hard rock. Masterful despite their young years as a band, Haunt began as a solo project of Beastmaker frontman Trevor William Church and promptly self-released its debut EP, Luminous Eyes, during the summer of 2017. Not long after, the EP was picked up for physical release by Shadow Kingdom, and henceforth did HAUNT begin their ascent… […]

Interview: HEWOLF

Richmond, Virginia. Site of Patrick Henry’s “Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death” speech, the Richmond Ballet, the Sailor Sandwich and HEWOLF. While liberty, skinny chicks in tights and pastrami, knockwurst, Swiss cheese and mustard on rye are all well and good, it’s the trio of down ‘n’ dirty hooligans masquerading as rock musicians that we’re on about now. Lord Randall recently sat down with the boys to learn about where they came from, and where they’re going… THUS DO WE REACH THE STARSInterview with HEWOLFBy: Lord Randall Rebel Extravaganza: What was the music climate like there in RVA when […]

Album Review: Angel Witch – Angel Of Light

Talk about an erratic album schedule…ANGEL WITCH should top that list. The last effort from the NWOBHM giants was As Above, So Below back in 2012…7 years ago. Over the last three decades, I’m never exactly sure if these guys are an active band or not, but Angel Of Light definitely declares that ANGEL WITCH is back in the game. My feelings towards this one are conflicted. It is certainly true to the classic ANGEL WITCH style of gloomy and galloping melodic metal that approaches doom, but is not quite there. The band hasn’t thrashed up their style or gone […]

Album Review: PERVERTED CEREMONY – Nighemancie / WITCHCRAFT – Black Candle Invoker

PERVERTED CEREMONY’s side of the split begins with the extremely haphazard title track, and moves on in the same fashion from there. For loving metal as long as I have, I can honestly say that I have no idea what they’re going for here. I would not call this black or death exclusively, more like a confused mish-mashing of the two. I don’t know know what the vocalist’s excuse for his delivery is, but the band follows a single theme throughout their side of the split. Make your decision. I’ve made mine. Well, WITCHCRAFT (Fin) wasn’t what I expected. Not […]
