FORLESEN Premiere New Album Black Terrain At Decibel Magazine

FORLESEN are streaming their album, Black Terrain, in its entirety over at Decibel Magazine. The album is out now via I, Voidhanger Records. The band draws from dark ambient, epic doom, black metal and slowcore, subverting traditional songwriting. The band comments: “Black Terrain coheres around themes of dissolution and entropy, traversing and overlapping the intimate and personal with the metaphysical and cosmic, and in doing so, seeking the transcendent. However high-minded this might sound, heartbreak, things falling apart, death, transcendence — these are universal themes. So our muse dances or lurches in perhaps seemingly disparate places that sing with this […]

Album Review: Spectral Lore – Ετερόφωτος

It’s hard to believe just one man is responsible for everything you hear on this release. The Greek title is a pain in the ass to reproduce, but that doesn’t change the fact that SPECTRAL LORE aka Ayloss is one of the very best black metal bands in the world. This is a massive effort that actually takes up two vinyl albums and more than 75 minutes of time. Almost all of that time is deeply fascinating, and packed with both raw energy and great musicianship. You can call SPECTRAL LORE philosophical black metal that leans towards the grandiose. Only […]

Album Review: Prometheus – Resonant Echoes From Cosmos Of Old

Named after the god who brought fire and wisdom to mankind, PROMETHEUS comes across as a band with a bit of an identity crisis. There are six songs on their long-winded album, and the first three differ quite a bit from the last three. Their sound touches upon crushingly dark death metal, epic black metal and a kind of cosmic ambience. The first three songs are by far the more interesting and punishing. ‘Gravitons Passing Through Yog-Sothoth’ goes for the jugular with a brutal rush of old school death in the vein of early MORBID ANGEL and ABSU. It’s a […]

SARTEGOS set release date for BLOOD HARVEST / I, VOIDHANGER debut album, reveal first track

Blood Harvest Records, in conspiracy with I Voidhanger, sets November 29th as the international release date for SARTEGOS’ highly anticipated debut album, O Sangue Da Noite. Blood Harvest shall handle the vinyl LP pressing and cassette edition while I Voidhanger will handle the CD release. For over a decade now, SARTEGOS have been a study in patience and perseverance. Helmed by mainman Rou, the SARTEGOS vision began humbly with a pair of demos in 2010 and 2011, with the staggering mini-album As Fontes do Negrume arriving in 2013 and truly putting the band’s name on the international black/death map. Wisely […]
