From the get go, I nodded my head and I was pleased. From start to finish I was taken back in time to my youth, first discovering black metal and being shown EMPEROR’s In The Nightside Eclipse. Now don’t get me wrong, its nice to hear new BM and to see the twists and turns of the genre, but O what a pleasure it is to be taken back to the good ol’ days.

As an album, Dark Mysteries Of Time & Eternity flows really well. The addition of acoustic and organ does wonders, and even the clean vocals are on point. The title track brings you straight to the subject of the matter – those frozen guitars, those icy vocals, chilling organs – a fantastic introduction. ‘The Frozen Flame’ and ‘Frozen Fog Enshrouds The Crystal Palace’ are tracks I would say are absolute belters on this fine offering, if you are going to give only one song a chance from this album, I do recommend either. You will not be disappointed.

The flow of the album here is key, no choppiness or track-hopping needed. I know I have already said such, but it’s so good it has to be stated twice. There are those albums you pick a few tracks from and be on about your business. Then there are albums like Dark Mysteries Of Time & Eternity, where you sit your arse down and you listen to the thing from start to finish.
